The science, the terminology and the facts.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound, a cannabinoid from the hemp plant.
A plant with a rich history due to its medicinal properties going back thousands of years...
How is it possible that CBD can help with so many things?
The medicinal effects are possible do to the way CBD interacts with the bodies Endocannabinoid system.
All humans, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish have an internal operating system called
the Endocannabinoid System.
The Endocannabinoid systems main function is to maintain bodily homeostasis;
the bodies ability to balance and respond to changes.
This system is made up of a vast array of receptors, named CB1 and CB2 .
These receptors are located throughout the brain, nerves, skin, immune cells, bone, fat tissue, liver,
pancreas, skeletal muscle, heart, blood vessels, kidney and gastrointestinal tract.
Our bodies produce their own cannabinoids called endocannabinoids. Endocannabinoids send regulatory
signals to all the CB1 and CB2 receptors.
Research has shown imbalance to the natural endocannabinoid levels result in malfunction.
The plant derived cannabinoid CBD interacts with our internal
endocannabinoid system and receptors seamlessly!
Like a lock and key.
This is why CBD is an effective natural supplement offering relief to numerous wellness challenges!
CBD signals the vast array of receptors located throughout the brain and body; promoting homeostasis,
balance and wellness.
Our bodies are designed to work with cannabinoids!
Can CBD products get me HIGH?
Unlike its cousin tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD is not psychoactive. CBD does not cause or provide any "High" effect.
When comparing CBD and THC, there are huge distinctions.
The psychoactive/high effect is a major difference between the two.
CBD interacts with both CB1 & CB2, but does not attach to the receptors, rather CBD only signals for balance.
THC only interacts with CB1 and actually attaches to the CB1 receptor, resulting in a "high" feeling and altered state.
In fact CBD can be used to block and counteract the adverse effects of THC!
This includes the psychoactive effect along with paranoia and memory impairment.
Naturally Restorative takes an extra step in the extraction process of our CBD,
and any trace amounts of THC are removed as an extra precaution!
Can I get addicted to CBD?
The World Health Organization which has examined many aspects of CBD, including its potential for abuse
has concluded there is no evidence showing Cannabidiol (CBD) as being addictive.
How much CBD should I take?
Every one metabolizes CBD uniquely, do to this there is no exact dosage.
Severity of symptoms, weight and age can often attribute to the dosage needed for an individuals desired effect.
Begin with a starting dosage and gradually add to it until the desired result is achieved.
Refer to the diagram below for recommended beginning dosages.
*CBD does not come with a risk of overdose. Large quantities have been associated with relaxation and sleepiness.
How do I take CBD? Are there different choices?
Yes, there are multiple ways to take CBD. The delivery system chosen is often based on personal preference.
Topicals are placed on the outside of the body and absorbed through the skin. Softgels are swallowed in capsule form, while gummies are chewable. Tincture oil is placed under the tongue and easily swallowed.
Some methods deliver CBD into the bloodstream more quickly, for instance by utilizing the sublingual method
(under the tongue) the digestive tract is bypassed and faster results are realized.
*Refer to the diagram below for more information on absorption.
Is Hemp Oil the same as CBD Oil?
No they are not!
Hemp oil and CBD oil differ in what part of the plant they come from, the benefits they offer and how they are used.
Hemp oil is from the plants seeds and contains NO CBD .
Hemp seeds, or often called hemp hearts are a nutritional powerhouse loaded with omegas 3 & 6, SDA & GLA acids,
protein, fiber, iron and vitamins; often utilized in foods, supplements, lotions and soaps.
Cannabidiol, or often called CBD oil is from plants flowers and leaves.
It is primarily utilized for medicinal purposes!
Working with the bodies own Endocannabinoid System, CBD has emerged as a leading natural supplement
for numerous mental and physical wellness needs.
Cannabidiol offers relief without addiction or a psychoactive "high" affect!
What is Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum and Isolate CBD?
Is it important?
As with everything, all CBD is not created equally.
Full spectrum CBD is made of full plant components; Including TCH, cannabinoids, terpenes, and essential oils
extracted from the plant.
Broad Spectrum CBD is the full plant extracts including CBD, terpenes, botanicals, essential oils; minus the THC.
Broad Spectrum CBD is Full Spectrum without the THC!
Broad Spectrum products are the best choice for people and animals that don't want or can't have THC in their system,
but do want the the magnified medicinal effect provided by the full plant spectrum!
Science has proven that having the CBD, terpenes, botanicals and essential oils all together will
magnify the therapeutic benefits of each individual cannabinoid.
This is commonly referred to as the “entourage effect“.
CBD isolate is a pure form of CBD, it is produced by removing all other compounds found in the plant including terpenes, flavonoids, plant parts, and all other cannabinoids. No entourage effect is possible!
What is the entourage effect?
Science has shown that utilizing the whole plant extractions offer the most benefit.
Many of these plant compounds, including CBD interact synergistically to create what scientists refer to as a
This magnifies the therapeutic benefits of the plant’s individual components.
The medicinal impact of the whole plant is greater than the sum of its individual parts = Full and Broad Spectrum
products offer magnified benefit!
Many leading doctors, scientists and experts in the field believe that CBD combined with other natural occurring cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids found in phytocannabinoid rich hemp plants result in measurable health benefits when using Full & Broad Spectrum CBD.
With all the misconceptions, terminology and wide array of products swirling around
it is very easy to get confused!
